Hi everyone -
One of our Australian ACTA members is embarking upon a new social
enterprise; a short
stay, user pays residential facility for people in employment who wish to
address non-complex mental health issues such as workplace burnout, anxiety
and depression as well as substance misuse issues.
To address concerns of neighbours near the intended site for the new
facility, they are trying to obtain statistical data on the prevalence
of behavioural safety issues for people who live near Therapeutic
Communities.
Many of us have been in the situation of having to address these
issues, both in the establishment phase of the TC and as programs have
developed and changed. I think we know that TCs make good and safe
neighbours - but I am not aware of any work that has been done in this
area.
As there doesn't seem to be any solid statistical data/research on this
issue, it would be greatly appreciated if fellow ACTA and EFTC
members could provide
any data/feedback they have from their own facility relating to any such
incidents.
Thanks for your help with this.
Kind regards, Lynne
