Glasgow Science Centre (GSC) is one of Scotland’s must-see visitor attractions. Our mission is to promote science and technology through thought provoking, fun and exciting experiences that inspire all to explore and understand the world around them.
We are recruiting for a Science Learning Coordinator to join the Science team to develop and support the delivery of science experiences which utilise, maximise and encourage GSC’s mission to promote lifelong learning.
This is a full-time, permanent contract on a salary range of £24,304 - £27,583 per annum.
Science Learning Coordinator Role Description:
To develop programmes for education, public and community visitors ensuring they have interesting, current and relevant content and enable them to be delivered in an entertaining, effective and professional manner that inspire, challenge and engage all audiences.
To monitor and maintain quality standards; leading the refresh of existing programmes and the development of new programmes.
To train all staff in the delivery of experiences, ensuring they are equipped with the relevant knowledge and skills to deliver the experience to the highest quality standard.
To liaise with potential content providers, key project stakeholders and to manage their expectations.
To ensure content of all programmes and experiences is scientifically accurate, accessible for all and where appropriate linked to the relevant curriculum.
To work with teams across GSC to coordinate special public, education or community events.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Degree level science qualification with teaching/science communication qualification a distinct advantage
Experience of motivating a team
Excellent knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence and modern theories of learning
Experience of managing a project from conception to operational delivery
A proven track record in the development & delivery of high quality content for science experiences
Strong communication and presentation skills
An enthusiasm for science with a high degree of commitment to GSC’s mission
Motivation to inspire and challenge others with science.
