STC 2016 "Chemistry in Solution": Registration Opened
Apologies for cross-posting
==================================================================================
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is a great pleasure to announce the Symposium on Theoretical
Chemistry 2016 on "Chemistry in Solution", which will take place from
Monday, September 26 (noon) to Thursday, September 29 (noon), 2016, in
Bochum, Germany, at the RUB Campus.
Scientific Scope:
The focus of the STC 2016 in Bochum is on "Chemistry in Solution". The
majority of chemical reactions take place in a liquid-state environment.
Solvents - water being the most prominent - are used to solvate
molecular species, ranging from industrial reagents to biological
molecules in living cells. Solvents also wet surfaces, such as lipid
membranes or metal electrodes, thus, creating extended inhomogeneities
and, thereby, interfaces.
The aim of STC 2016 in Bochum is to advocate that a lot of progress in
Theoretical Chemistry can be achieved by embracing both advanced
electronic structure methods and sophisticated computer simulation
techniques. Thus, the invited speakers to the STC on "Chemistry in
Solution" will broadly cover research into chemistry in liquid-state
environments. In addition to the invited lectures within this focus
area, contributed talks and posters will cover all fields of Theoretical
Chemistry. As usual, the winner of the Hellmann Award, bestowed by the
AGTC, will be announced during the STC and will present her/his field of
research. Furthermore, the new Erich-Hueckel-Preis of the GDCh for
"Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Theoretical Chemistry" will be
awarded for the first time.
Invited Speakers:
o Marie-Pierre Gaigeot (Universite d'Evry val d'Essonne, Paris, France)
o Joachim Heberle (Freie Universitaet Berlin, Germany)
o Poul Jorgensen (Aarhus University, Denmark)
o Jacob Kongsted (University of Southern Denmark, Denmark)
o Oliver Kuehn (Universitaet Rostock, Germany)
o Tom Markland (Stanford University, USA)
o Bernd Meyer (Universitaet Erlangen-Nuernberg, Germany)
o Roland Netz (Freie Universitaet Berlin, Germany)
o Kenneth Ruud (University of Tromso, Norway)
o Elsa Sanchez-Garcia (Max-Planck-Institut fuer Kohlenforschung,
Germany)
o Eckhard Spohr (Universitaet Duisburg-Essen, Germany)
o Douglas Tobias (University of California at Irvine, USA)
o Joost VandeVondele (ETH Zurich, Switzerland)
o Lucas Visscher (VU University Amsterdam, The Netherlands)
Registration and Abstract Submission:
Registration coupled to the option of abstract submission is now open
and we cordially invite you and your coworkers to contribute talks or
posters to the conference. There will be many contributed oral
presentations which will be selected by the scientific organizers. In
addition, six prizes will be awarded for the best posters.
You can find detailed information on all important issues, such as the
scientific program, fees, site, accommodation, travel and registration
here: http://www.stc2016.de
Important: Registration will definitely close on June 30, 2016, without
extension or option for post-deadline or on-site registrations. The
number of participants is limited and we recommend early booking of your
accommodation.
Please contact [log in to unmask] (exclusively) if you have any questions.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Bochum!
