CILIP’s International Library & Information Group (ILIG) extends an open invite to join us at our June Informal:
• Date & Time: Wednesday, 8th June - 6:00pm to 7:45pm
• Location: CILIP Head Office, 7 Ridgmount Street, London. WC1E 7AE
• Speaker – Ian Anstice, Public Libraries News
Please book online at http://tinyurl.com/ILIGIanAnstice
Ian Anstice is Locality Librarian for Northwich and Winsford and has been widely recognized was awarded a CILIP Honorary Fellowship in 2015. He is also a past recipient of the Information Professional of the Year Award in 2011.
We are delighted that Ian has agreed to speak to us about the Public Libraries News website which he founded in 2010. Since then the site has become a trusted and authoritative source of information about the (somewhat turbulent) plight of public libraries throughout the UK. Ian will also be talking about how the site has grown and evolved over time, taking on an international aspect. This includes looking at public library systems overseas and what we can learn from these here in the UK.
More information about Public Library News can be found at: www.publiclibrariesnews.com and also on Twitter: @publiclibnews
The event also relates to the following areas of CILIP's Professional Knowledge and Skills Base (PKSB):
2.7 Knowledge sharing and collaboration 2.8 Obtaining benefits from expertise 9.3 Advocacy
11.4 Service innovation, development, and design
12.5 Communication skills 12.6 Networking skills
ILIG Informals are not lectures; they are informal, but informative, early evening meetings with a short talk on a theme of international interest plus plenty of time for questions and networking.
They are open to all and absolutely free. Light refreshments are served which is why we ask you to let ILIG know you are coming by booking online (no later than 6th June, please) at http://tinyurl.com/ILIGIanAnstice
