Browne Jacobson has a permanent full time vacancy for an Information Assistant.
Purpose of the role
To support the information services team. Information services supports the legal and business research of
the firm’s sectors with well organised access to reliable and up to date resources in a timely and cost
effective manner, to maintain and improve the quality of advice offered by fee earners to clients.
Responsibilities
Regular administrative duties including; file loose leaf updates for textbooks, processing resources
e.g. labelling, maintain circulation lists, maintain resources in the Knowledge Centre in a tidy
accessible state
Place items into storage and request the return of items from storage using icompli
Updating catalogue and loan records through the online database
Checking publishers online catalogues
Assisting in the preparation and provision of current awareness alerts
Updating and maintaining intranet pages
Fulfilling research requests efficiently and accurately with a good eye for detail
Undertaking any other duties as required, commensurate with the level of the post
Technical skills
Familiarity with Microsoft office, including the ability to maintain databases and records using
Outlook, Word and Excel
Ability to work with a wide range of materials, including databases, books, journals and the Internet
Experience of using Microsoft Access, Nitro, Adobe and icompli would be an advantage
Compliance
You will be expected to be familiar and compliant with the full range of regulatory policies and

You will also be required to undertake mandatory compliance training as required

As an information assistant, you would be expected to have the following skills and experience:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good organisational skills and be able to manage own time effectively
A proactive, professional and flexible approach to work
Ability to work on own initiative whilst maintaining a positive team spirit at all times
Accuracy in working to tight deadlines and able to adapt to changing priorities
Knowledge or experience of delivering excellent customer service, eager to help users
Keen to develop over a period of time with a willingness and ability to learn
Ideal first professional post for CILIP accredited graduate but applicants seeking experience prior to
undertaking a postgraduate library/information course in order to pursue a career in
librarianship/information management will be considered. Previous experience in a legal or information
service would be an advantage but is not necessary as training will be provided.
