Communication volunteers for Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, and Persian

Remuneration: This is a volunteer position (unpaid).
Who we are: In the wake of the EU Turkey deal, the Post-Deportation Monitoring Network recently launched a project that encompasses a website through which we seek to a) support refugees after their forced return to Turkey and b) monitor post-deportation risks so as to be able to try and hold European policy makers accountable. The Post-Deportation Monitoring Network is one of the initiatives of IRRI Rights in Exile.
Returnwatch is looking to recruit four communication volunteers, Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, and Persian speakers respectively to help with responding to requests from refugees at risk of deportation and those already deported to Turkey. Return Watch aims to be an accessible and practical tool that connects people who are forcibly sent back to Turkey, with lawyers and human rights NGOs in their location, as well as to monitor post deportation practices and risks returnees face.
Working within our newly formed project will not only give you the opportunity to take on great amounts of responsibility for a role, but also to grow your skills and give you a hands-on experience working in the non-profit sector.
You will be part of a diverse and dedicated team that makes a real contribution in helping refugees at risk and will be documenting the human impact of the EU-Turkey deal with regards to advocating positive policy changes.
Responsibilities: Assist the Refugee Support Coordinator with responding to refugee enquires in order to gather information about their current situation and to establish their needs, and then matching them up with our collaborators who work with Human Rights Organisations, as well as with lawyers.
Essential qualities and expectations:
· Good writing and communication skills in both the respective language and English is a must;
· Available to work with the team for at least six months, preferably for longer
· Past experience working in the field of refugee support;
· Ability to work both in a team and independently;
· Knowledge of any other language, organizational and IT skills a distinct asset.
