For hexagonal lattices, things become much more intuitive if you use four-index notation. This is hardly ever seen in MX, but is very common in fields such as metallurgy. You simply write the indices
(redundantly) as "h k i l", where i=-h-k. Then you have 3 2 -5 4 and
-5 3 2 4, and the symmetry is obvious.
