The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at the University of Essex is delighted to announce 3 fully funded PhD Studentships (entry October 2016) for UK/EU students, covering fees plus stipend (at standard EPSRC stipend rates).
See http://www.essex.ac.uk/csee/fees_and_scholarships for more information.
In particular, students interested in a PhD in Machine Learning under my supervision can contact me (Luca Citi, email: lciti _ΑΤ_ essex.ac.uk) to discuss possible topics.
I am interested in ML in general and more specifically in:
# multiple-kernel learning,
# scaling up kernel methods,
# neural decoding,
# compressive sensing and sparse deconvolution,
and in novel research at the interface between them.
Please see http://www.essex.ac.uk/people/lciti for further information.
The ideal candidate should have:
# a very good M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science or similar fields,
# a strong mathematical background,
# good programming skills (e.g., in matlab/octave, python, R, julia)
# good command of written and spoken English.
You may leave the list at any time by sending the command
