Flexibility of design, look, style etc is therefore key, and it's important to have something we can do ourselves rather than go to external designers and software experts. Another ideal situation would be something that can link in to our collections management system API so we can power the interactive from the CMS and not a separate system, but that might be asking too much!
We’ve done *all* that in partnership with museums and because we’re web designers and software experts it was relatively easy for us to do.
If you’re not designers or software experts then you’re not going to find it easy, but it is possible to use any web technology in a closed *intranet* set up. You just need web server and web browser on the same machine for a single presentation or a server and networked machines for multiple points.
If the only reason you’re dead set against external help is cost then perhaps we could discuss options with you? Not all external designers are *expensive*.
Tony.
