All UK-based students reading German at university in their second year or above are invited to take part in the 2nd round of competitions as part of the annual Oxford German Olympiad! This year there are two competitions open to undergraduates and postgraduates:
1. Subversive Satires in the 1930s - translate an excerpt from an anti-Fascist satirical text from the holdings of the Wiener Library, London! The winner will receive £100 cash prize (generously donated by the Wiener Library, London).
2. Camden House Book Proposal - present a book proposal that would fit with the German Studies programme of books offered by the publisher Camden House. The proposal may be for a current or planned project - or even for an entirely imagined project - and need not be intended for actual publication (see the guidelines for more information). The winner will be invited to select books of their choice from the catalogue of Camden House to a value of £150 or receive the cash equivalent.
Teachers of German in UK schools (secondary and primary) may be interested in a third competition open to entrants aged 9 to 18 years: Meine Traumreise! - design a tour of your favourite region in Germany, Austria or Switzerland to win!
The deadline for all three competitions in noon on Friday, 6 May 2016. All winners will be invited to a prize-giving ceremony in Oxford on 16 June 2016.
Full information on the competitions can be found on our website: http://www.ogn.ox.ac.uk/oxford-german-olympiad-2016. Please email the Oxford German Coordinator, Madeleine Brook, with any queries: [log in to unmask]
