Hi Nico!
Happy to discuss your requirements and engage in conversation directly with
you as I am involved in a similar project that has the same requirements
re; portability.
Let me know your outline thinking as I have some limited experience in this
area, especially within considerations of usability and access. For
example, when you say 'kiosk', would any portable (then freestanding
mounted) touchscreen PC / tablet with a HTML5 browser be sufficient? Would
you like to have the ability for people to use their own devices, or access
the display through a "portal" at any location?
Crucially the project I am working on at the moment requires a CMS that has
API capability (with say Adlib or equivalent) and is either open source /
licensed that is easy to use by content editors. The ability to host
"offline" content where network access not available may also be a
consideration (e.g. temporary exhibition spaces / venues that don't have
network connectivity).
I am personally more drawn toward web-apps that can be tailored to your
requirements via project-partnership with designers, rather than
"off-shelf" bespoke software, but that's from my also limited technical
understanding.
