38 degrees is feverish.
I understand why we might be unified in wanting a
BBC news service and some public service
broadcasting. I'm not sure it's entirely
impartial - but it is a useful contribution to the news system.
However at this moment BBC1 is Match of the Day
Live. Why is it right that we have to subsidize
the hugely overbloated money paid to cheating
ball kickers in a game where the underlying ethos
seems to have become what can you get away with?
The BBC has provided 10 TV Channels, and regional
variants for some of those (now starting to rationalize).
It provides multiple radio channels, and an awful
lot of free online access to people who've never paid a licence fee.
What is the justification for providing
"entertainment" as opposed to news and education through a licence fee?
Licence Fee Spend
TV £96.00
Radio £27.60
Other £08.76
Online £07.32
Lic Col £05.88
I'm open to be persuaded but I think disliking
the government is no reason to support a
regressive flat rate burden on millions of people
who are only a proportion of the entertainment consumers.
Wikipedia can be trusted as much as the BBC in my
view and it doesn't get any licence or government funding.

Julian
