to an advertisement for a three-year PhD studentship in the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Plymouth University.
The studentship will start on 1st October, 2016.
The studentship will cover one topic within the CMS research areas of
Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Theoretical Physics.
Details of the available projects, which include the following projects in Statistics
* High-Dimensional Big Data Modelling with Applications to Child Health and Forensic Science
* Dynamic Social Media Information Extraction
* Detecting Community Structure in Spatial Social Networks
* Network Discovery for Big Data with Monte Carlo Algorithms
* Bayesian Approach to Complex Evidence Synthesis with Medical Applications

Applicants should have (at least) a first or upper second class honours degree in an appropriate subject and preferably a relevant MSc or MRes qualification.
The studentship is supported for 3 years and includes full Home/EU tuition fees plus a stipend of £14,057 per annum.
The studentship will only fully fund those applicants who are eligible for Home/EU fees with relevant qualifications.
Applicants normally required to cover overseas fees will have to cover the difference between the Home/EU and
the overseas tuition fee rates (approximately £10,800 per annum).
The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 6th May 2016.
