The Research Department at NFER is looking for Statisticians/Quantitative Researchers to join our busy department and to contribute to projects at the forefront of educational research in the UK. We are interested in applications from enthusiastic individuals who are capable of carrying out high quality statistical analyses as part of different research teams across the NFER, and who can potentially be involved in a number of statistical and strategic areas, notably RCT methodologies and/or value for money analysis. In addition, the successful candidate would also be involved with an exciting portfolio of qualitative research and test development projects.
There is a wide variety of datasets becoming available for secondary analysis and we want to recruit to our teams allowing us to better use this data to answer key policy and practice questions, alongside the ongoing analysis of primary data we collect.
At the start of your NFER career you will spend the majority of your time in the Centre for Statistics where you will develop your analytical, statistical and programming skills. Other time will be spent developing wider research skills within the Centre for Evaluation and Consultancy. After a period of time, probably around two years, you will start to specialise in either quantitative research, statistics or psychometrics. Your career at NFER will develop according to your specialism.
The person appointed will:
• be qualified in statistics, economics or in another degree with a high statistical/quantitative content.
• preferably have a higher degree;
• have an interest in education, economics or psychometrics;
• have a practical and well-organised approach to the analysis of data;
• be able to work on projects from design to report;
• be able to work quickly and accurately to meet deadlines;
Salary in the range; £24,779 – £32,331pa; placement on scale according to qualifications and experience.
