The Centre for Cancer Prevention in central London is at the forefront of international research into the prevention and control of cancer. We have particularly active research programmes in breast, endometrial, cervical, colorectal and prostate cancer prevention, cancer screening and statistical methods for clinical trials and epidemiology.

Applications are invited for a Statistician to investigate the use of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) for risk prediction of breast and colorectal cancer. The focus will be on how much independent information SNPs provide in relation to classical phenotypic risk factors. Analysis will use case-control and cohort epidemiological studies and computer simulations.

Applicants must have an MSc or PhD or equivalent experience in statistics or a related quantitative field, such as epidemiology, genetics, bioinformatics, operational research or machine learning. Candidates will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a working knowledge of statistical software. Knowledge and experience in using the R software and Linux from the command line would be an advantage.
