The University of Leeds Special Collections has received funding from the National Cataloguing Grants Programme for Archives to undertake a project titled "Collectors and Activists - Romany Collections at the University of Leeds". We are seeking to appoint an archivist to catalogue and promote the Romany collections. We intend to work closely with the Gypsy and Traveller community, opening up the collections to these audiences.
Your responsibility will be the cataloguing, indexing and promotion of the Romany Collections. You will work closely with colleagues in the Special Collections team, supervise and work with University student volunteers and individuals from Gypsy and Traveller community groups.
With a professional archival qualification or substantial equivalent experience, you will have a good knowledge of international archive cataloguing standards. You will be confident in using IT, have good interpersonal skills and be able to manage your workload to meet performance and output standards whilst maintaining accuracy. Knowledge of foreign languages would be an advantage as would experience of using a collections management system.
Grade: Grade 5
Salary: £21,605 to £25,023 (appointment will be made at spine point 19 - £22,912)
Contract Type: Fixed Term (12 months)
