Introduction to Statistical Concepts and Tests for Administrative Data Research
A 1-day workshop led by Dr. Chris Playford, organised by the ADRC-Scotland, 16th May 2016 (10am - 4.30pm)
Event Summary:
The day will be orientated towards participants not routinely undertaking statistical social science or health research, and seeking a refresh of their knowledge.

The workshop particularly suits those short of time and unable to attend longer courses, or who would like to buy a textbook and work through it but never seem to find the time.
Topics will include:
-Statistical Concepts
-Measures
-Variables
-Cases
-Populations
-Samples
-Levels of Measurement
-Univariate Measures
-Measures of Central Tendency
-Measures of Dispersion
-Confidence Intervals
-Constructing and Reading Tables
-The Essential Elements of Probability
-Constructing Hypotheses
-Statistical Tests (e.g. chi-square; t-test; eta; Cramer’s V; gamma; Yate’s correction)
