Call for Papers – Special Issue Transportation (SCI, SSCI)
ICT, Activity Space-Time and Mobility: New insights, new models, new methodologies
========================================================================
Information and Communication and Technologies (ICT) have spread considerably in recent years transforming the ways people live their lives. People are now connected remotely via smart mobile devices and high-speed Internet to almost anything, anytime and anywhere. Pervasive technologies and ubiquitous computing are now supporting a myriad of new information services to the society. People connect through social networks traversing spatiotemporal gaps and allowing real-time coordination of daily activities for personal or business purposes and emerging forms of mobility cooperation. These innovations raise new unanswered questions on the choices between physical and virtual participation in activities, the time spent in digital co-presence, and travel choices and behaviours. Moreover, ICT support new data collection methods through passive and active Big Data sources, generating growing interest for research and policy alike.
We are especially interested in receiving scientific papers contributing (non-exhaustively) to:
(1) New conceptual, methodological, and/or empirical advances on the relationships between travel behaviour, activity participation, time use and ICT
(2) New insights and models on ICT induced trade-offs between mobility, activities and time, spent in between physical and virtual spaces
(3) New methodologies to collect and analyze data from active and passive Big Data sources including social media and specifically tailored apps on travel, time use and activities.
