We would like to invite applicants to the post of Research Associate in Safe and Smart Mobility - Road Safety.
Loughborough University has established an international reputation for excellent research in the field of road safety and mobility on behalf of government departments, the motor industry and other research organisations. The University has recently been awarded the SafetyCube project with funding from the European Commission which aims to develop a new repository of information and Decision Support System (DSS) to support road safety policy-making at EU and national level by providing detailed, systematic knowledge on safety risks and the effectiveness of interventions. The project will bring together the best scientific information in a format suitable for road safety policy-makers and those who advise them.
Working as part of an international team, based within the Design School, the Research Associate will help develop the DSS and populate it with scientific results and findings. The work will involve:
Review of scientific literature on accident risks and measures
Consultation with key stakeholder groups about the nature of the DSS
Analysis of a range of accident data sources
Preparation of reports and publications
Contribution to the wider research undertaken within the School in the area of safe and smart mobility.
The ideal candidate is someone with a strong background in evaluating the impact of measures, ideally in the road safety, infrastructure, behaviour or related fields.
