Subject: Re: Best OER Search Engine?
Hello Nick,
I used my own engine, based on Google Custom Search on "Outdoor education" (including the "). This gave a couple of resources. See http://robertschuwer.nl/gcs.asp?tab=3 (site is in Dutch, but the search pages are also with English text and the site can be translataed using Google Translate on the fly).
Hope this helps a bit.

Onderwerp: Re: Best OER Search Engine?
Hello Nick,
I searched on YouTube "outdoor education for kids" and got a number of helpful-looking possibilities, but did not check licenses.
Similar with iTunes U -- I searched "PE primary" and "outdoor primary" and got loads of material from Education Scotland which looked possibly helpful. Not CC-licensed though (I checked).
So-- cannot re-mix and re-share, but you can use directly from source.
Kind regards,

Thanks Verena. That might be the solution to dig around in text books.
Its funny how energised we were when we started this mission. OER and the great open prairie soon started becoming a bit like narrow lanes in reality.
Thank you anyway.
Best Wishes,
Nick

Hello:)
What about CK12 with a focus on Earth Science?
I often use OER HEd textbooks - and pull out the good content. Maybe from a biology or geography course? Openstax?
I will tweet out your question to some of my k-12 peers in Outdoor ed and see what they say...
Good luck!

Hi,
A colleague asked me for a suggestion for the best search engine for OERs on outdoor education.
I have tended to use Jorum before but searches on outdoor education brought a few items up vaguely useful but some had broken links etc. I used Merlot and that was better but not that much multimedia. I tried Khan Academy but not much there either.
Otherwise I've used Google Advanced Search and then to click on free to use, share and modify in the rights section. That seemed the most productive. I'm just wondering what/where others do differently for their searches.
I know you are a knowledgeable group and I thought you may already have a go-to search engine for OER video, multimedia and other OER content on outdoor education.
Could anyone offer any ideas? Thank you in anticipation.
Best Wishes,
Nick
