I’d approach that by creating a virtual internet/intranet exhibition that mapped to the real life one and embedded the soundcloud content appropriately.
I’d have a home page that was linked to your WiFi Login page that then showed images of all the objects with audio content linked to their ‘page’
steps:
1. login to WiFi - success moves to step 2 automatically
2. see the exhibition home page - which is mostly visual images that match to the object/label or simple visual cue
3. select the object image - click and listen to the audio
Sometimes to make things simple for the user, we have to do the hard work.
asking them to type a link from a label into their smartphone, realise they have to connect to WiFi and then type it again (no matter how short it is (especially if a random string) is bound to to be an obstacle.
Of course i may have misunderstood the question, it is Friday!
