Hi James,
I was was part of Bristol Museum's Moved By Conflict exhibition, part of
the city's Great War commemorations. This included a bespoke VR
environment. Reaction far better than expected given it was something of an
experiment.
As for institutional readiness to try out VR, that seems to very much
depend on which institution we're talking about but there certainly hasn't
been a tremendous uptake (yet). However, this may be due to other factors
such as a lack of design expertise in this area.
I've written a piece on VR and cultural heritage for the next issue of
British Archeology journal if it's of interest.
