Dear all,
I am Chiara, and I am writing to you from a desk within the Solutions Unit of UNHCR in Geneva, where I am only seated since yesterday.
I am glad I eventually joined a small team of colleagues who are also keen on critically exploring the multiple challenges that forced displacement entails, particularly in terms of (transitional) solutions. I guess there will be enough room for debate within us – on research methodologies, visibility and digital marketing, and the blurring line between humanitarian and development responses to refugee issues, and if so this will be quite certainly a rewarding experience.
On the research point, we agreed on the urgency of creating a “Solutions Library” which should resemble a comprehensive database gathering all types of materials relevant to the Operational Solutions and Transition Section under which our Unit falls. So, any report, background note, key article, academic paper dealing with durable solutions should be properly filed.
I just thought I would be really grateful if you could share with me any practical suggestions on how to carry out this. Also, which websites should I absolutely keep an eye at if I want to be constantly updated on migration/refugee issues?
Thank you so much, and I am looking forward to reading your comments.
Best regards,
Chiara
