Closing Date: Tuesday 01 March 2016.
Please apply via: https://hr-jobs.lancs.ac.uk/Vacancy.aspx?ref=A1447
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who has excellent knowledge of machine learning, data mining or applied statistics. As part of an interdisciplinary project team, you will help us develop new techniques for analysing human eye movement, visual behaviour and cognitive function.
The aim of our research, supported by an EPSRC grant, is to contribute toward dementia monitoring in the home. Cognitive impairments affect eye movement and visual behaviour, and we are investigating novel methods for embedded health assessment based on eye tracking in the context of everyday activity.
We expect you to have technical expertise in working with machine learning, data mining or applied statistics. You should have strong data analysis and experimental skills, and an excellent track record of research on novel data analysis methods and systems. You will be working closely with eye-tracking specialists and psychologists and must have a strong interest in working collaboratively across disciplines. Prior experience with eye movement and/or human behaviour analysis would be a plus but is not essential.
You should have a PhD degree in computer science or closely related field, and evidence of relevant research experience. Appointment will be at Grade 6 or Grade 7 depending on postdoctoral experience.
The School of Computing and Communications offers a highly inclusive and stimulating environment for research career development. This includes exciting opportunities for collaboration across the campus, particularly in Data Science and Health Technologies which are both strategic growth areas of the University.
The position is available for a fixed term until 30 September 2018. Applications should include a statement of research interest.
You are strongly encouraged to contact Prof. Hans Gellersen for discuss your interest and to learn more about our project team and research environment.
