The Insight Centre for Data Analytics at NUI Galway is looking for an excellent post-doctoral researcher with a PhD in Statistics/Biostatistics or related discipline. The successful candidate will focus on research challenges in the domain of injury prediction in elite athletes using Bayesian approaches. A strong background in Bayesian statistics is required where priority will be given to candidates with experience in developing Bayesian models in applied contexts such as medical or pharmacuetical. The research will be led by Dr John Newell (HRB Clinical Research Facility and Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Research Cluster, NUI Galway).
Essential Skills:
PhD in Statistics/Biostatistics or a related discipline in a topic that is relevant to the position
Knowledge and experience in Bayesian predictive modelling in a medical or related context
Excellent programming skills in R, WinBUGS or Python
Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skillsDemonstrated ability to conduct and publish excellent research
Demonstrated ability to work independently and show leadership in a team context
Interest in teamwork, collaboration and post-graduate student supervision and guidance
Experience:
Experience in collaborative research including data management and (interactive) visualisation
Experience with Java, Python and graph processing package
An interest in sports
