the CVA button from the Results section was actually introduced in SPM8
and mentioned in the SPM8 Release Notes pp.5-6:

You fill find there references to a couple of rather old papers where
CVA was used.
The SPM function spm_cva.m is similar to MATLAB's canoncorr:
