Hi Kate,
Good subject for a new year perusal. Here are some recent V&A efforts. These are all open web apps, rather than native platform apps like iOS/Android
We had two games commissioned for the exhibition "What is Luxury?"
1. The Definery
A nicely simple quiz-based provocation that is a bit like 20 questions about an object you own, but with a "Luxury/Vulgar" judgement at the end to get a reaction.

We built in behaviour tacking to this one. It was interesting to see how the game result affected subsequent promotional uptake of calls to action. Here's a review of that:

2. Luxury Time
A game that requires growing levels of patience to complete, exploring the effort required to produce luxury products. The last level is absurdly so. It's quite funny

Some web apps produced for the new Europe 1600-1815 galleries.
3. Design a Wig
A pretty silly wig out game that allows you to recreate absurd 18th century wig fashion. Does one thing and does it amusingly http://www.vam.ac.uk/designawig
4. Europe 1600-1815 galleries audioguide
This is a traditional audioguide for in-gallery use. Content other than the audio is stripped back. The object finder is based on the common spatial orientation behaviour of looking for landmarks. No map, just pitcures of the objects and pictures of where it is in the gallery. This is to encourage maximum "heads-up" attention to the objects (augmented with audio)

> Dear all,
> A *very* general question for the beginning of 2016: what stands out for you as the best apps and games for museums/mobile/general innovativeness in this area - and equally are there fancy bits of tech that you regret or are more trouble than they are worth?
> I haven't really had a play around since Wellcome's Mesmerism and Culture24/SI's VanGo Yourself, and probably there's plenty I've missed. I'm about to read Nesta's latest digital R&D report like a grownup, but also welcome a heads up for museum alternatives to Plants vs Zombies!
