Subject: Gas pipes in contaminated land?
Whilst fully aware of water pipe laying requirements in potentially contaminated ground due to effects on water quality, does anyone know of any similar requirements or suggestions for testing of ground prior to laying low pressure PE gas pipes? Obviously many of the parameters noted in the various guidance by the water suppliers are directly of importance to human health in terms of affecting water quality by diffusion through the pipe and joins so I am guessing for gas pipes only gross effects that would affect the pipe structure itself would be of importance such as how aggressive certain chemicals would be to the pipe? Any help gratefully received.
