Research Associate in Statistical Genetics (A29450R)
Maximum Starting Salary: £28,982
Closing Date: 4 January 2016
We are seeking to appoint a postdoctoral research associate in statistical genetics to work on an exciting project related to identifying predictors of treatment response in Rheumatoid Arthritis. The post-holder will be based in the Institute of Genetic Medicine at Newcastle University, within the Computational and Statistical Genetics Group led by Professor Heather Cordell.
The successful applicant will develop and apply statistical analysis techniques to data from studies of treatment response and disease progression in Rheumatoid Arthritis. This will include analysis of genome-wide association study (GWAS) data and biological data derived from other high-throughput "omics" technologies.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in statistics/statistical genetics/genetic epidemiology or another relevant statistical/mathematical subject, together with knowledge and experience of working with genetic and/or genomic data. Exceptionally, candidates with a biological/medical/bioinformatics background but with proven competence and a strong interest in statistical analysis techniques may be considered.
The post is funded for 22 months (tenable up to a latest finishing date of 28/02/2018)
