During the last decades a vast number of scientific achievements allowed
to gain more insight into mechanisms of tumor development leading to
efficient therapies. However, a major challenge still lies in
resistant tumor cells causing relapse.
The new Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1243 „Genetic and epigenetic
evolution of hematopoietic neoplasms” addresses mechanisms underlying
cancer development from an evolutionary perspective. Using lymphomas and
leukemias as a model, the goal is to investigate the influence of
mutations, selection and cellular interactions on cancer development.
The CRC is a collaboration of research units from
Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich, Technical University of Munich
and Helmholtz Zentrum München from medicine, biology and
statistics/bioinformatics.
The subproject “Computational models of neoplasmic heterogeneities and
lineage choice” at the Institute of Computational Biology, Helmholtz
Zentrum München, investigates dysfunctional differentiation of blood
stem cells, evolution of subclones and heterogeneous tumor structures by
application of statistical and mathematical methods. For this project we
are looking for
