BACKGROUND:
King’s College London is recruiting for a Research Assistant to work on a research project with Creative England that drills into the dynamics of partnerships between major established corporate organisations and small-micro creative businesses, explored through Creative England's ‘Big Guy, Little Guy Partnerships’ initiative. Having pioneered and brokered a number of such successful partnerships between small creative businesses and organisations as Unilever, NHS, Sony and Microsoft, Creative England now has an extensive database of past collaborations which is to be analysed as part of this project.
The aim of this role will be to use this database to identify key case studies and examine the effectiveness of the performance indicators used by Creative England to evaluate the project; to help distil the good practice and effective methodologies for future success; and to enhance understanding of how the relevant supply chains have been affected.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The task of the Research Assistant will be:
- To identify case studies which illustrate the range and scale of collaborations between micro creative businesses and major established corporates brokered by Creative England across the creative industries over the last five years;
- To collect and analyse all Creative England documents and literature related to the case studies;
- To design research questions and surveys appropriate to an evaluation of the aims of each partnership;
- To interview or survey all stakeholders associated with each case study in order to establish:
- the mechanisms used to established and deliver the partnership
- the extent to which project aims and objectives were met
- the new knowledge acquired
- the new skills acquired
- the business impacts of the partnership
- the supply chain impacts of the partnership
- To assess the impact information Creative England has gathered in relation to the case studies and determine the effectiveness of the key indicators used;
- To produce a report which may be used as a resource by creative micro businesses seeking to work with major established corporates, and vice versa.
- To make recommendations to Creative England on its future evaluation methodologies for ‘big guy little guy’ partnerships.
EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS REQUIRED
Essential
- Knowledge of the arts and cultural sector, particularly the Creative Industries.
- Ability to design research questions and surveys and analyse results.
- Ability to synthesise information and report on qualitative findings.
- Ability to exercise initiative and plan work independently
- Excellent writing skills
- Basic knowledge of working with a Microsoft Excel database, or willingness to learn quickly
- To work diligently and pay attention to detail while keeping to tight timelines
- Willingness to travel, with some overnights.
Desirable
- Understanding of business models
- Experience identifying case studies
- Experience of preparing, writing and communicating research reports
QUALIFICATIONS:
Recent PhD (essential)
