Subject: [lis-e-resources] Vacancy at LSE Library for Acquisitions Manager

We are seeking to recruit a full-time Acquisitions Services Manager. As leader of the Acquisitions Services team, you will take responsibility for procurement of books and e-books, licensing of course packs and scanned readings, and management of the interlibrary and document delivery (IDD) service. You will work to ensure that the Library continues to strengthen its content services - particularly for provision of taught course content - delivering high-quality and responsive services, and taking advantage of new and innovative business models to deliver best value.

The post is based in the Collection Services Group, which consists of five teams - Acquisitions Services, Subscriptions Services, Metadata Services, Online Services & Systems, and Collection Management. You will lead and manage a team of 12 staff (11.4 FTE), ensuring that the staff skills, systems and processes are in place to support effective service delivery, and developing a team culture of continuous improvement. As a senior team manager you will work closely with other team managers across the Library to support the overall operational management of Library Services, and report to the Library Leadership Team.
You will have extensive knowledge of scholarly content supply chain, including business models, licensing, procurement policy, and supporting systems and technologies. You will be aware of current trends in the scholarly communications market, and be able to apply that knowledge to ensure that the Library is positioned to take advantage of new developments and working practices. Experience of supporting acquisitions services in academic libraries is desirable, but the post would also suit someone with experience in related fields such as publishing. You will also have experience of managing a team.
This is offered as a full-time permanent post on LSE Band 7: £42,703 - £49,442 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £55,594 per annum inclusive. The closing date for applications in Sunday 10 January 2016.
For further details, please visit the LSE Jobs website: www.lse.ac.uk/jobs<http://www.lse.ac.uk/jobs>. For further information and informal discussion of the role, please contact Anna Grigson, Head of Collection Services ([log in to unmask], <mailto:[log in to unmask],%20> 020 7955 7943).
