Dear all,
Seventeen universities have 46 PhD studentships available from October 2015, as part of the UK-wide collaborative Centre for Doctoral Training programme in Oil and Gas http://www.nerc-cdt-oil-and-gas.ac.uk/scholarships.html. The projects cover the CDT's four research themes; Environmental Impact & Regulation, Extending the Life of Mature Basins, Exploration in Challenging Environments and Unconventional Hydrocarbons. Studentship funding covers UK/EU fees, stipend and annual RTSG allowance of £5k. This CDT model also includes 20 weeks of funded bespoke cohort training spread over the first three years of the four year studentship.
Applications need to be made to the host institution of each particular project by Jan 31st 2016. Decisions on applications should be notified by the end of February 2016 as successful applicants are asked to reply to their offers by March 16th 2016 for October 2016 starts.
NERC funds 10 studentships in the scheme, the BGS funds two and the remainder of the total of 34 places available for October 2016 are match-funded by the participating universities. Please see the NERC CDT in Oil & Gas webpage above for full details or contact the NERC CDT in Oil & Gas Manager, Lorna Morrow, on [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
Please contact the host university for info on specific projects
Cheers
Zoe
