We're pleased to announce 2 new courses in our social research methods training programme:
* Introduction to Data Visualisation and Infographic Design *
London, 20 January and Cardiff, 14 April
Infographic designer and trainer Lulu Pinney will provide a one-day hands-on workshop.
Data visualisations and infographics provide a great way of communicating insight – in reports, on social media, in presentations – and in social research there's no shortage of material to work with, qualitative as well as quantitative. However there's little guidance out there on how to get started and how to get the best out of their use.
The range of possible outcomes can be a daunting prospect. Should you be going for a diagram, a dashboard, an interactive online tool? During this workshop we will consider all the factors that have an impact on the infographic you end up with – insight, audience, platform, resources – and look at the steps you need to go through to get to a good result.

* Web Surveys: Visual Design and Delivery *
Cardiff, 3 March and London, 5 May
A new course from survey research expert Dr Pamela Campanelli.
Internet surveys are becoming one of the most popular methods of data collection, but there are both advantages and hidden pitfalls to this methodology. This course is about all the features that make up having a successful web survey: the decisions you’ll need to take, the implementation issues, and more.
This course combines practical knowledge with advice from current research on internet surveys, including hands-on exercises. (Excludes the wording of the actual questions as this is covered in the SRA course on “Questionnaire design and testing”).

The cost to attend a one-day SRA is course £260 (SRA members pay £195).
