Hi, We are experiencing problems when exporting records from our library catalogue to RefWorks where the catalogue records are in RDA format. The 264 tag containing the publication information is repeatable in RDA with the first entry using a subfield indicator of 1 and containing the publication date in the $c subfield. Records often contain a second 264 tag with a subfield indicator of 4 and contain the copyright date in a $c subfield. This causes problems when we export the record to RefWorks as both dates are carried across and will appear in the RefWorks record as e.g. 2015; 2016. When you click on the curly brackets to get the place-marker which becomes your in-text citation you get one with two dates:
{{3597 Matthews David,Alison 2015; 2015;}}
When you try to process the essay it often stops it processing at all and you get an error message. You need to go back into RefWorks and look for a record with two dates (RefWorks may not tell you which placemarker has failed). If you take out the extra date so the placemarker created then becomes {{3597 Matthews David,Alison 2015;}} the document then processes.
I know we cannot be the only university using Refworks and RDA catalogue records so I wondered if anyone else out there has found any kind of workaround for the problem other than stripping out the second 264 entry from all RDA catalogue records.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer
