Hi Andrew
I used to work with WELD, a wonderful women's group and a transformative experience for me. Good luck with your project with MELD, alas too far for me to come these days.

Subject: [COMMUNITYPSYCHUK] Looking for Speakers for Community Psychology based group for Men with Learning Disabilities - MELD
Hi everyone, if you live in or around the Midlands perhaps you would be interested in getting involved with this:
MELD is a welcoming, well-established group of 8-10 men with Learning Disabilities that meets in Telford. Our theme for 2016 is Mental Health. We will be exploring a variety of topics (e.g. friendship, money, health, housing, psychiatric medication, relationships, the physical environment) and how they relate to mental health. The aim is to link the inequalities that people with Learning Disabilities face in these areas with mental health and to think about what support people can find.
Speakers would need to be fairly comfortable communicating with people with Learning Disabilities but do not need particular experience of working with people with Learning Disabilities, just some knowledge that they could adapt for a discussion with this group. I'm a Trainee Clinical Psychologist based in Shropshire and with an interest in Community Psychology. I'm supporting Paul Moloney who has been running the group for many years.
If you're interested, do get in touch, I'm sure we could offer you a warm welcome! Best regards,
Andrew
