The MRC Biostatistics Unit aims to advance medical science by the development, application and dissemination of statistical methods. It is one of Europe's leading biostatistics research institutions and includes many internationally renowned statisticians. It provides a privileged environment for conducting research within the Cambridge biomedical environment.
The Unit is offering an exciting opportunity to join a Ian White's research group to work on a project entitled "Multiple imputation by chained equations for data that are missing not at random: methods development for randomised trials and observational studies". The post-holder will contribute to ongoing work on extending the popular method of multiple imputation by chained equations to handle data where the common missing at random assumption is thought unlikely to hold, exploring practical issues in performing sensitivity analyses, and disseminating methods through software and tutorials.
The post-holder will have, or be in the final stages of obtaining, a PhD in Statistics or in a related subject; will have experience in developing statistical methodology; will have knowledge of writing or adapting statistical software; will have good communication skills; and will be able to contribute substantially to writing scientific papers.
Starting salary will be in the range of £27,729 - £30,486 per annum, supported by a flexible pay and reward policy, 30 days annual leave entitlement, and an optional MRC final salary Pension Scheme.
