Astrophysics, Denys Wilkinson Building, Oxford
Grade 7: 30,434 - 37,394 with a discretionary range to 40,847 p.a.
Applications are invited for a physicist or RF electrical engineer to work
in the Department of Physics at Oxford University on the design,
construction and verification of a production-ready prototype radio
receiver, operating between 1.65 to 13.8 GHz, for the international Square
Kilometre Array (SKA) project.
The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration of 2 years,
and may be extended subject to future funding.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the receiver cryostat
design and the integration of key receiver components such as the feed horns,

in the lab and will lead the on-sky testing of the receiver on an SKA
prototype dish in the Karoo desert, South Africa. The postholder, in
collaboration with SKA-DISH system engineers, will produce a complete set of
final design documents such that the prototype receiver can be manufactured
by SKA industrial partners in quantities of 150 receivers.
Applicants should have, or be about to receive, a PhD or equivalent in
radio astronomy, radio frequency electronics or microwave engineering. For
