Is this really a good point, David? Tim starts with a supposition - "the
supposed delicacy of some literary folk" - which no-one, to the best of my
knowledge, has ever claimed, and certainly not in the context of this
argument. Then this entirely fictitious idea is seen as "a cover for
hypocrisy...when behind the scenes their manipulation and power brokering is
brutal." There may indeed be hypocrisy, manipulation and brutal
power-brokering going on in the literary scene, but I wouldn't be willing to
accept the truth of this on such a thin argument, and I don't think anyone
else should.
