You are quite correct. Today that is a trackway and is labeled as such on
the diagram (insert) between pages 496 and 497 ("Stonehenge in its
Landscape", English Heritage, 1995,) and elsewhere. In fact, there is a
water tank located precisely on that line (I've seen in an aerial photo.
Don't remember where right now.)
Could an ancient trench explain the location of the trackway? The water tank?
