I have never suggested that the ditch was a " moat " .
However there is no doubt that there is an association of some henge ditches holding water , even today when the water table is probably lower . These henges tend to be the more low lying examples .
You on the other hand seem to have considered the Stonehenge ditch inundated at one point .
