Since a few students have answered the question it seems unfair to remove the question entirely.
Sometimes my pure maths lecturers would put an unsolvable maths problem in an exam to see how we would approach it and our attempt to solve it.
Doesn't this question help differentiate your better students.
I'd look at the distribution of marks compared to previous years. If they are lower overall then perhaps apply a scale to bump up the marks (the total including that question)
