We are very keen to get an enthusiastic critical health researcher into this position, and someone with a background in the sociology of health and illness would be favourably considered. There may be some MedSoc members interested in this position or who know appropriate applicants. Please forward this to anyone you think may be interested in applying. Thanks, Kerry
Lectureship in Psychology, School of Psychology, Massey University, New Zealand
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for a Lectureship in Psychology to support the School of Psychology’s goal of strengthening our research and teaching agendas. Candidates should have an interest in, and demonstrated expertise for, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in (a) critical health psychology and (b) social psychology. The successful applicant will have strongly applied interests, a commitment to developing a research programme that complements and extends existing work in the School, as well as having the potential to attract external funding. The successful candidate should be able to dialogue effectively across a variety of perspectives related to health, but have expertise in critical approaches.
Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Psychology or a related health discipline, with some experience in tertiary teaching and an active research programme. The appointee will be expected to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to supervise theses at Doctoral and Masterate level.
Collaborative teaching and research, involving colleagues working for School of Psychology programmes across our campuses will be a priority. Staff may be required by the Head of School to teach for short periods on any campus of the University. As part of Massey University’s commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi, the School of Psychology incorporates a bicultural focus into its programmes. The successful candidate will be required to coordinate and teach an undergraduate social psychology course as well as a post-graduate course in health psychology. The position is located in Palmerston North (Manawatu campus). The School offers degree programmes to doctoral level in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Science and in the College of Health. At undergraduate level, majors in Psychology, Business Psychology and Educational Psychology are available.
It is expected that this position will be available from January 2016. Appointment will be on the Lecturer scale at a level comparative to qualifications and experience.
Enquiries of an academic nature should be directed to Professor James Liu, Head of School, School of Psychology ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>).
