Volunteer researchers required for East Dunbartonshire's War Project
This Scottish Library & Information Council (SLIC) funded project will explore the impact of the First World War on East Dunbartonshire. We will use the EDLC Archives and Local Studies collections in new and innovative ways to engage young people and local communities.
Our focus will be on personal stories of local people held in our collections, and also stories handed down through the generations. We are particularly interested in discovering what life was like for those who survived the War - before, during and after this life-changing experience.
The project is seeking to recruit several volunteers to assist with identifying accounts of lived experiences held within our Archives and Local Studies collections. Volunteers will be given specific subjects to research and will have access to EDLC’s historical Archives and Local Studies collections.
The ideal volunteer will:
• A keen interest in social history, particularly personal accounts of lived experiences
• Excellent attention to detail
• Patience and an understanding of the research process (previous research experience advantageous but not essential)
• Knowledge of the local area (advantageous but not essential)
• Confident using photographic equipment (1 role)
