BISCUITS AND COORDINATION

Thanks to Terese Bird and Teresa McKInnon for co-ordinating the Open Ed SIG  presence at ALT-C. 

They organised the stand rota, dished out biscuits, talked to people about 'open' dished out biscuits, talked more and then also hosted the F2F DIG meeting. 

Here are the key points from that meeting to share with all SIG members:

DISCUSSION - TO INFORM SIG ACTIVITIES THIS YEAR 

Everyone at the meeting was an existing Open Ed SIG member (so those of you who were there, please feel free to expand, correct or extend on this short summary.)


Lengthy and animated discussions and ideas emerged. Debbie Holley helpfully collected the key points raised which could be explored further on this JISCmail group.   

Themes discussed:

Policy - influences in University, how to mobilise and operationalise 

Stakeholder engagement - sharing good practice and research eg the Masters student project Open licences 

How to promote OER across sectors a WBL and community learning 

Badges

Implications for REF open access

Sustainability of content. 

Repositories and what should we be saying about the closure of J word - JORUM!

Open values

Digital literacies and Open ED Practice. 

Welsh and Scottish open declaration -how far do they reach all sectors of education / learning?
