Re-posting here from the BRITARCH list in case it's of relevance to anyone...
Hello All
On the topic of lidar and using the new EA datasets, PTS Consultancy and Air Photo Services have just begun to offer a series of day-long training courses "Making the Most of Lidar". In addition to the bespoke 1-2-1 or group training that we have run successfully for the last year.
On the course we will cover how to access and download the data from the EA portal, how to visualise it using a combination of QGIS (open-source GIS software) and the Relief Visualisation toolbox that Paul mentioned and provide lots of opportunities to ask questions discuss the advantages and disadvantage of lidar for your research.
If you like to find out more the course information is available here http://www.pushingthesensors.com/training/
(with full course details as a pdf here http://www.pushingthesensors.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/MMOL_course_info.pdf)
There's also a booking form for our next course (to be held on the 16th October in Swindon)
If you'd like to contact me about other types of training please do drop me a line - I've got lots of experience of training people of all background in the use of airborne remote sensing data for historic landscape analysis and am always happy to help! :)
Best wishes,
Rebecca Bennett, PhD
