Hello Everyone,

I'm a journalist based in New York City, and joined this discussion list recently--thank you for all the posts and compelling events listed here. I wanted to share that my first book, called "Resurrection Science: Conservation, De-Extinction and the Precarious Future of Wild Things" was published by St. Martin's Press last week. It focuses on a range of species on the verge of extinction or already gone, and how extreme interventions to save them are shaping and changing our understanding of nature. Some of the species included are Florida panthers, northern white rhinos, and passenger pigeons. It even has a chapter about the ethics and meaning of Neanderthal de-extinction, ridiculous as that sounds :) I thought the book might be of interest to folks on this list, and maybe even something that professors would consider for student-reading. Here is the website: www.resurrectionscience.com

Also, I'll be in Sydney on October 9th at the Macleay Museum for a reading and to talk a little about genes, technology and conservation, and if anyone here is in that area and interested, it would be great to meet you. http://sydney.edu.au/environment-institute/events/resurrection-science/

Thanks very much for your time and look forward to future discussions here!

Best regards,

Maura
