The University of Liverpool Masters in Archives and Records Management is seeking expressions of interest in teaching a 15 credit medieval and Latin palaeography module.
The module is taught in semester 2 (1 Feb 2016-18 March 2016; 11 April 2016-13 May 2016) and is currently delivered via 11 weekly 2.5-hour seminars. It would probably be possible to reorganize the teaching into 3 full days, either as a block or individually as appropriate.
Appointment would be to a fixed term 0.2 contract at Grade 7 (£32,277-£37,394 pro rata), i.e. likely to be around £2,500 for delivering the module.
Assessment is via 5 pieces of work (transcription, translation and calendaring) and the module is expected to cover the main pre-1500 hands and types of document encountered in an English local record office setting, including deeds. Students will already have taken a Latin module in semester 1 and are expected to have achieved a familiarity with Latin vocabulary and grammar adequate for understanding formulaic documents, but they will not already have familiarity with the formulae and specialist vocabulary such documents entail.
If you would like further information or would like to register your interest, please reply to me, Alexandrina Buchanan by Friday 18th September 2015.
With best wishes
Alex
