Some on the list may be interested in being a Grants Adviser at the Wellcome Trust.
There are various vacancies going, so the job ad is rather generic, but there is a maternity cover role in the Grants Management team that will be working on our public engagement grants. The role will involve providing advice to people seeking funding through our People Awards, Society Awards and Engagement Fellowships, monitoring projects and providing administrative support for these grant schemes.
Details of how to apply are on the Wellcome Trust website here:
https://jobs.wellcome.ac.uk/iRecruit/VacancyDetail.aspx?VacancyUID=000000002410
Our Grants Management department is responsible for the application and award processes for grants across our funding divisions.
Working closely with your team, you will be responsible for managing applications in population health, cell biology or engaging science. Your role will include checking eligibility and other application details, managing peer review, and preparing applications for Funding Committees. In addition, you will be required to develop positive relationships with applicants, Committee members, award holders and work closely with partners in our funding divisions.
Please don't be put off by 'You should have a relevant postgraduate degree qualification in a biomedical or relevant subject. Experience of working in a university or research-funding environment would be advantageous.' This is the case for some of these roles working on our Science portfolio, but we would be interested in people with public engagement experience for the role working with the Engaging Science portfolio.
These posts are being offered on 12-month fixed-term contracts.
We offer a salary of c. £29k per annum plus excellent benefits.
To apply, submit a CV and a covering letter explaining how you meet the criteria.
Applications must be received by Wednesday 26 August 2015.
