Cheshire Archives and Local Studies Service preserves and provides access to historical records and local studies material relating to the history of Cheshire. Based at the Cheshire Record Office in Chester, we are seeking to appoint an Archives Assistant (maternity cover) to join our customer service team. The post is 3.5 days per week, on a fixed term basis of 9 months. Principal duties include providing a face-to-face service to members of the public in our busy public searchroom, including lifting and carrying archives, and providing a digitisation service. We are looking for someone who communicates well, both verbally and in writing, who has experience in providing a face-to-face service to customers, and who is confident in using ICT. You will also need to have a reasonable level of physical fitness. The post would suit somebody seeking practical experience prior to undertaking a professional archives qualification.
